A Fairy Baby Shower Cake Decoration

Cake consists of 3 cake tiers and 2 crooked dummy layers. The cake tiers are 10″, 8″ and 6″. On this particular cake the flavor is white almond sour cream cake with cheesecake mousse filling.

Topper is handmade by me. I had my dh build me a special stand out of plywood, dowels and sturdy cardboard. The mushrooms are styrofoam halves covered in gumpaste/fondant. The baby fairy is handmolded of gumpaste and fondant and attached as is the bow.

The roses, pansies, and violets are all royal icing flowers. The daisies, leaves, tiny hydrangea, and pink flowers are gumpaste/fondant.

The butterflies are edible and made from my edible image printer on wafer paper. Cut out and painted with piping gel and sprinkled with edible glitter. The entire cake is dusted with pink and white edible pixie dust. The dummy wedges that make the cake have the crooked appearance are piped in brown royal and allowed to dry and then airbrushed to resemble tree stumps.

The wires are heavy gauge florist wire bent to shape and then flowers and butterflies attached with more royal and allowed to dry.
