About the miramonte winery

Miramonte Winery is the definition of a small, family owned and operated winery. Without pretenses, the goal of Miramonte is to produce wine that is “pure hedonism.” Well, “happy, healthy hedonism” that is.

With an annual production of less than 5,000 cases, Miramonte is one of the smaller wineries in Temecula. In fact, almost all of their wines are produced in quantities of less than 1,000 cases per year. This enables them to pay the utmost attention to every detail in the winemaking process.

The winery believes that the Temecula Valley will soon undergo a radical transformation towards producing Rhone varietals. With change on the horizon, Miramonte has already taken steps to ensure that they will be at the forefront of this movement.

In late 2002, Miramonte’s Estate Vineyard was almost entirely replanted with Syrah. In future years, they hope to produce Syrah that can compete with any in California Wine Country. Right now, the winery produces an array of wines, the most popular being their Bordeaux blends.

The Miramonte Opulente is a red Bordeaux blend that is mainly Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cab grapes are not just from your average clone; they use Cabernet Sauvignon clone 337. This is the same clone that produces Opus One, one of the best Cabs in the world.
