If you plan to be in the area during July 4th, be in Crested Butte for the Fireman’s Pancake Breakfast and the parade that follows. It is one of the best and most popular small town parades in the U.S.A.


Almont has a limited number of lodging facilities available. During Summer and Fall, the lucky folks staying in Almont are a very short distance from the headwaters of the Gunnison River.

The Taylor River, which flows out of Colorado’s famous Collegate Peaks, and the East River, which flows out of the mountains surrounding Crested Butte, come together to form the Gunnison River right in Almont.

You guessed it. This is one of the best fishing spots in Colorado. The Taylor River is also great for rafting, kayaking, and of course, picnicing.
