Any ideas to make a valance that’s a tiny bit too short work?

Hi! I live in Okinawa, Japan. My husband is in the military so we move…a lot! Because of that, I have a ton of valances that I’ve used in previous houses.

I would love not to have to re buy valances since I already have colors that match my decor, but some of my valances are just a tad bit too short. I only have one valance of each type.

I’ve checked with the stores I got them from and those styles are no longer available.

Do you have any ideas on how to make these work or what I could add to my existing valances to “hide” that they are too short?

Thanks!
Laura

Hi Laura

The only thing I can think of is to add a trim of some kind. Such as a bullion fringe or tassel braid such as these on ebay.

You can either sew them onto the bottom edge of your window valances or glue them on.

If you are good at sewing you could add a complimentery border of plain fabric to the bottom of your valances. When I have done this in the past I simply cut a strip of fabric 4 inches wide. Then sew this to the bottom of the valance. Then fold it over and hand tack it to the back of the valance. This way you don’t see any sew lines to the front.

Good luck with this project.

Best regards
