Double Prediction – Free card trick

The Double Prediction card trick can be done with any deck of cards.

Trick Effect:

This trick begins by having the deck shuffled by a spectator. The magician writes the name of a card on a piece of paper, and then has a spectator choose a random card.

The magician again writes the name of another card on a piece of paper, and then has another spectator choose a random card. At the end the two cards are named, and the slips of paper are opened and read, proving that the magician predicted the choice of those very cards.

Trick Explanation:

Begin this trick by having the deck shuffled by a spectator. When taking it back sight the bottom card, make an overhand shuffle, bringing it to the top and note also the bottom card at the end of the shuffle. Go to a lady and say you will make a prediction foretelling exactly what card she will pick. Write on a slip of paper, “The gentleman will get the – (filling in the name of the top card of the deck)”. Fold the paper and put it on the table under some object. Hand the deck to the lady and ask her to think of a number and deal that number of cards face down on the table. While your back is turned, tell her to turn the top card of those dealt, note what it is, replace the packet on the deck and make one complete cut burying the chosen card in the middle.

When she is finished, turn around and take the deck. Go to a gentleman and under pretence of fixing on a suitable card to impress on his mind, slowly run over the faces of the cards, find the former bottom card and cut at that point. Now you know the card brought to the top. On a second slip of paper write, “The lady will get the – (filling in the name of the top card.)” Fold the paper and put it with the first. Ask the lady to whisper the number she chose to the gentleman.

Hand the deck to the gentleman telling him to deal the cards face down on the table and the note the card at the lady’s number. When this is done, put the deck back together and give it a good shuffle. While you are shuffling the deck, build the trick up by going over everything that has taken place.

Hand out the slips of paper in reverse order in which you wrote them. (The lady should get her slip, and the man should get his slip of paper.)

Have the two cards named, then have the slips of paper opened and read. This will prove that you predicted the choice of the two cards.
