We all need energy foods to keep our bodies going. Without them we wouldn’t be doing very much at all. Just about any activity that you do will require some energy to get the job done. These kinds of foods are those that can be rapidly oxidized by the body to release energy and its by-product,heat.Both carbohydrates and fats provide energy for the human body.

Carbohydrate foods can be classified as producing a high to moderate or low glycemic response. The glycemic response of a food is a measure of the food’s ability to raise blood glucose. Rice and potatoes are some of the foods most tested for their glycemic indexes. They are important both because most of us tend to eat a lot of rice and potatoes and because they can have a high glycemic index. Rice and bread might be low in fat but when your body is burning the carbohydrates in these foods it doesn’t burn as much fat. So if you are on a low fat diet, you won’t lose as much weight if your calories are still high.

Pasta in all forms is a great source for energy foods. Many power lifters and marathon runners load up on pasta before a big event. Pasta and cereals are good sources of complex carbohydrates and pasta and some cereals will result in a low to medium GI response. Complex carbohydrates are found in breads, grains and vegetables. These carbohydrates also provide needed vitamins and minerals as well as fiber and energy.

Eating a diet that’s high in foods that cause a rapid rise in blood sugar may increase a person’s risk of developing health problems like diabetes and heart disease, although these studies have been done mostly in adults.Refined and simple carbohydrates are found in foods made from refined grains like refined flours which are the basis for pasta, breads, cakes, biscuits, cookies, pies and pastries.

Caffeine is hard on the adrenal glands and depletes the B vitamins, which help adrenal and liver function. Sugars will only give you a short burst of energy.

Energy drinks are caffeine and sugar, way too much of both of them for your body to deal with. Caffeine stimulates the heart leading to an increase in the heart rate and the blood pressure thus increasing the workload of the heart. The mechanism for this lies in its potential to constrict the blood vessels which may increase the blood pressure and alter the blood flow to the heart. They’re designed for students, athletes and anyone else who wants an extra energy kick.

The point that is trying to be made is that caffeine it can be harmful to people who cannot physically handle it,such as people with heart conditions.
