Everything About Persistence

What is it that you want…?

Think about it for a minute. Is it fortune, fame, health, better relationships? Whatever comes to mind here in this exercise is strictly a personal choice and will differ vastly among everyone. Now that you have that “something” in mind, my next question is this…
How tough will it be to get and can you keep going ?

Here comes the not so fun part of the imagination process. The work.

For those of you with a goal and a plan to obtain it, this article goes out to you…

Lets start it off with a quote that pretty much sums up what the concept of Persistence is all about…

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “press on” has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race” [Calvin Coolidge]

The work portion of obtaining any worthwhile goal is a tough, long, hard road. Usually people visualize where they are now, and then flash-forward to the end result of where they would like to be or what they would like to have. We tend to skip over the working portion of the program.

Everything About Persistence

This is where we see what you are made of and if your “WHY” in this goal is big enough to keep you going.

No one said this stuff was easy. Things will get hard. Depending on what that goal is you may have to do many things that will test your personal discipline, causing you to have to dig deep to keep forging forward.

In addition, there will be days where you won’t want to do anything to move toward your goal.

Wrong answer.

This is exactly the time you need to act. Get to the gym, write that article, work that extra shift. All the persistence and motivation in the world won’t mean squat if you do nothing with it !

A major key to obtaining any goal is action – and sustained action at that. Make no mistake that any action is good, but sometimes we get that “all or nothing” mentality.

The actions we take need not be earth-shattering. Small, incremental improvements add up ! Small actions performed over time produce BIG results. If you are after better health, you don’t need to run a 10K race to start.

Start small, but keep moving. That is the key.

When things get tough, time and money get tight, and things don’t look anything like what you imagined the final picture would be…

Never give up… Never stop…

Never settle for “good enough ! Take Everything !
