Feng Shui in the Home Let the Chi Flow

There’s so much that we buy for our house. Each Christmas we get new wreaths, each Halloween we get new lightings. My grandmother used to buy new green curtains each year for St Patrick’s Day. I don’t miss any sale where I can get home décor for good enough prices. Necessarily or unnecessarily, we keep piling stuff in our homes. Never do we realize what all we have in the house and how is it affecting our lives. That’s where Feng Shui helps. Once we start applying Feng Shui in the home, we start looking at our home from a different perspective. We start looking at each object with conscious attention.

Once you bring Feng Shui in the home, you’ll realize that every area in house is unique and no other area can compensate for it. The only thing is, some area are more important in the house because of the amount of time we spend there. You can start by evaluating your house. See what all is already in sync with Feng Shui principles and what all needs to be done.  Feng Shui in the home is all about creating positive energies around oneself, using the positive energy of the nature. You might wonder from where to start. Usually there is so much in the house that you might think it’s only next to impossible to bring any change

Feng Shui in the Home Let the Chi Flow
Here are very simple tips that you can follow and ensure that energy ‘Chi’ flows freely in your home:

ENTRANCE
The main gate is of the house is often referred to as ‘Chi gate.’ This is because the entrance is like a gateway between the outside world and your home. The entrance of the house should be welcoming and depict warmth. The first thing you should do is clean it and make it obstruction free. It’s always a good idea to have wind chimes right outside the house. This was wind chimes can help you in distracting the negative energy from coming in. Have plants or fountain along the pathway through the garden to the main entrance. This way there’ll be balance in the home.

LIVING ROOM
Living room is that area of the house where guests come and therefore it should be presentable at all times. Do not clutter this room. In fact, keep it spacious enough for you and the guests to move around. The furniture should not be closely packed. If space constraint is there, have less furniture in the room. Fill up the dead area or the isolated area of the room with fish tank, plants or colorful pictures. Avoid keeping dried flowers in the room.

They are dead and thus generate negative energy. For decoration, you can use flowers made from silk, linen of paper. Feng Shui in the home suggests living room to be the place for the family to get together and spend quality time with each other. However, many people do not spend time in living room and in place remain in their personal rooms. This generates distance and discomfort in the house. Try spending few hours each day with your family in the living room. Try reducing TV and stereo’s presence in the room.

KITCHEN
Food is prepared here, so everything that is present in the kitchen affects everyone in the house. Feng Shui in the home advices kitchen to be kept clean and hygienic at all times. Kitchen should not be in front of the toilet. If your kitchen is, keep the door of the toilet closed and lid down at all times. Feng Shui in the home maintains open kitchen to be better because Chi can move freely there.

BEDROOM
We spend about a third of our day in bedroom. And we retire there to relax ourselves and regenerate our energies. For applying Feng Shui in the home, organize the room as such that it gives a soothing effect. Have the bedroom painted in light tones. Bedroom is a private room and therefore, it should not be visible to the guests. Windows are always good for a house but avoid having too many windows in the bedroom because it excites ‘Chi.’

Do not have too many electronics, or any sort of exercising equipments in the bedroom. Having symmetry in bedroom is important. E.g. if you have a lamp on one side of your bed, have another one from the pair on the other side as well.  Do not keep anything under the bed, it obstructs the flow if Chi.

HOME OFFICE
Home Office is another important part of the house. Especially because you spent a good amount of time here for pursuing prosperity in your life. Remove clutter of any out-of-date/unnecessary paperwork. It’s always a good idea to have useful information and projects stored in a computer rather than in physical files. Feng Shui in the home recommends home office to be open to invite thoughts and ideas.

BATHROOM & TOILET
Keep the place clean and odor free. Trash can should also be kept clean. Always keep toilet lid down if not in use. Dirty water or still water often generates stagnation in energy, therefore, keep the place dry at all times.

GENERAL TIPS
Keep the house clean and clutter free. Once this is done, half of your work will be done. Get rid of things which are no longer in use. Throw of objects which are broken. Keep brooms, trash cans, mops at a place which is out of sight.

Feng Shui in the home is all about connection and channelising energies at the place you spent so much time at. Proceed gradually in doing so. Take few steps, do few changes and see whether they are benefiting you in the way you desire.
