Festivals in Goa, India

Goa abounds with all kinds of festivals and holidays – Hindu, Muslim and Christian, national and local – and the chances of your visit coinciding with one are high. Secular events are less common, although Carnival, which involves a cast of thousands, is the state’s largest cultural event. Christmas also enjoys a high profile: travelers from all over South Asia converge on Goa for the Yuletide revelries, when local people traditionally consume prodigious quantities of pork, sweets and feni – the hall mark of most Goan festivals.
