Fitness misconceptions can cause even the most sound fitness plans to fail. So what’s the solution to preventing this from happening? Getting the facts, not ideas..

If you know the facts, then you won’t have to worry about wasting time with misleading information, and that will make it much easier to realise your fitness goals.

Although it’s impossible for me to dispel every single myth regarding fitness, I will attempt to bring the light to the most common ones.

Fitness Myths are Success Killers

Below, I have put together a list of the most common fitness myths. Each one is worth checking out because you never know which one may catch you off guard!

Common fitness misconceptions:

  • Myth: Dieting will maximize weight loss.
    Truth: Healthy eating and exercise will maximize weight loss.
  • Myth: Weight lifting will make you big and bulky.
    Truth: Weight lifting will make you bulky only if you’re TRYING to become bulky.
  • Myth: Crunches will make your stomach flat.
    Truth: To get a flat stomach, you must lose fat, then develop your abdominal muscles.

  • Myth: You can make your body burn fat in specific areas.
    Truth:“Target training” doesn’t cause your body to “choose” where it wants to burn fat.

 

  • Myth: Training in your heart’s target zone burns the most fat.
    Truth: Training at maximum intensity burns the most fat.
  • Myth: Lifting weights will cause a woman to look “manly.”
  • Truth: Female weightlifing tones a woman’s body and enhances her shape.

Although I have listed many common myths, there are countless more that I could not cover. Be sure to check back often, for I will update this list with more fitness myths as I discover them.
