Why not have a romantic picnic with your special someone? Here are a few ideas that can incorporate into your vacation.

The Equipment
The basics are a picnic basket, plates (or bowls), cups (or mugs), serving utensils, and paper towels (or napkins). If possible you should also add a nice tablecloth, salt and pepper shakers, a nice carving knife, a light cutting board, and a corkscrew to open wine. Have all these items clean and packed inside the basket…ready to go at a moment’s notice.

If possible, it’s nice to have a blanket with a waterproof backing in case their is moisture on the ground. You want to be comfortable, or you will not be able to relax and enjoy yourself, and moisture is a sure way to ruin a good picnic. Keep this item rolled up and stored alongside the picnic basket.

The Food
The first thing to remember is to prepare the food before you arrive at the beach. The sand, the wind, and the elements make the preparation of food difficult, so the more you can prepare before you arrive, the better. Focus on delicious, but simple combinations of flavors. Try out something special for the first time. Avoid anything that is too difficult to transport or messy. For added convenience, why not call the local deli and have them prepare some of your favorite food combinations for you.

The Location
The next item on the agenda is choosing the perfect location and time. Why not a nice flat section of beach overlooking the waves as the sun goes down? A secluded picnic table at a location that is special for the both of you would also do fine. Check ahead to make sure that noisy traffic, pesky bugs, and annoying parties will not be an issue.

The Extras
It’s those special extras that can make a nice romantic picnic into an occasion to remember. A red rose, scented candles, and a mixture of your favorite love songs can add that little touch of something special.
