This has led to the introduction of spice and tasty ingredients to Goa food. Seafood is one main item of unique Goan food. Right from fried fish to exotic concoctions like ambot-tik seafood is a must in all menus except in case of religious observances.

History of Goan food

Goa food is of wide variety ranging from prawns to sausages, chicken to beef, vegetarian dishes and also include magnificent culinary delights like the prawn balchao and sorpotel, which has become famous around the world. Seafoods like fresh prawns; lobsters, pomfrets, clams, ladyfish, mussels and oysters are used to make a wide selection of dishes like curries, fries, soups and even pickles. Besides these fresh seafood dishes, dried and salted fish dishes are also highly prized by the Goans.
