Worming should be every 2 months rotating drug classes.

When worming your horse you must rotate the different classes of wormers. Each class targets a different kind of worm.

Drug classes are as follows:
1. Ivermectin, Moxidectin

  • large and small strongyles
  • pinworms
  • ascarids
  • hairworms
  • stomach worms
  • neck thread-worms
  • lungworms
  • intestinal threadworms
  • bots

Ivermectin is one of the most effective wormers available. And the only one effective against bots.

2. Oxibendazole, Benzimidazole

  • large and small strongyles
  • pinworms
  • ascarids
  • threadworms

Oxibendazole based wormers has a success rate of 97 to 100% of listed parasites.

3. Pyrantel Pamoate

  • large and small strongyles
  • pinworms
  • large roundworms

 

Pyrantel Pamoate is a very good wormer and should be added to your wormer rotation.
