How do I dress a bay window which has a full window ledge?

by Laura

I am moving into my first owned house which has a bay window, but with a built in window ledge which fills in the entire bay…if that makes sense! I’m not sure what you would call it see example…

I can’t find any ideas for dressing closed type bay windows with window ledges that fill the area of the bay.

I would like something modern- muslin/voile or something similar. I was thinking of having curtains on either side, but would like something hung for privacy over the windows themselves as the window is quite overlooked.

Any ideas? I am a window novice! Ive only rented houses before which had blinds already in, so this is new to me!

Any help would be great…not sure where to start! Haven’t a clue about windows!

Thanks in advance

Hi Laura

You are right curtains on the outside on a curtain pole. If you go with a white wooden pole. You could then put white wood slat venetians into the bay.

The voile curtains would only be for show and could be scooped into tie backs. The blinds would give you privacy. I Think the window you have has either 4 or 5 glass panels.

I would fit a blind to each The white wood slat blinds will still reflect light into the room so won’t make it much darker.

Hope you like my suggestion How do I dress a bay window which has a full window ledge?
