How do I treat transom type windows above regular windows?

by Nanette

In every room of our house we have 84″ long windows. Above each window is a fixed transom type window of the matching width of the window it is above. Everyone says not to cover these, but at different times of the day the sun comes shing in interfering with tv watching, sleeping, etc. All the windows have plantation blinds on them and no other treatment. What do you suggest?

Hi Nanette

I know you won’t probably want to hear this but you will have to change your plantation blinds for full height ones. Or fit blackout roller blinds to the top of the windows that will come down to meet the plantation blinds.

I fitted curtains recently in a room with plantation shutters but they were really just for dress. It was a living room so you would not really want to close them in the middle of the day just to watch tv.

Sorry I could not come up with any more suggestions. If anyone reads this and has other ideas them please post a comment at the end.

Best Regards
