How To Build A Homeschool Based Website Business

Instead of a home-based website business, you can create a homeschool based website business – just like we did! Your website can be about anything you want, anything that you are passionate about, and it doesn’t even have to be about homeschooling. I really believe a home based website business is the best “work at home” opportunity out there. I’ve tried many other ‘work at home’ jobs and businesses and I have had the most fun and success with a website.

A homeschool based website business can be an excellent learning opportunity for your homeschoolers as well. Furthermore, the income generated from a home based website business can help purchase curriculum and extras for your homeschool, or simply can be used to augment your family’s current income.

The start-up costs of building your own homeschool based website business are very small. Anywhere from $10-$30 a month will get you up and running – and even making money.

What’s really neat about building a home based website business is that it can require virtually no technical skills whatsoever. Using a simple website builder, you can not only teach yourself the ins and outs of building a website and participating in eCommerce, but you can teach your children too.

How To Build A Homeschool Based Website Business

Building a homeschool based website business does require some time and effort. However, what I have experienced is that you can take ‘breaks’ from building your website if you need to. Yet, when you go back to your website business, you didn’t lose anything during your ‘break’. Instead, what I’ve noticed when taking a day or two off from building my website is that my website business continued to grow while I was away!

The best part about creating a home based website business is that you can earn a passive income, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This guide is meant to show you just how to do that!

How Much Time Does It Take?

Really, you can spend as much, or as little, time on your homeschool based website business as you want. You will find, however, that your earnings are generally equal to the amount of time you put in.

What I recommend is that a work-at-homeschool mom and family spend about 10 hours a week on building their homeschool based website business. This will show steady consistent growth that not only you, but the internet search engines, will love. If you want to build a large website that can earn a great deal of money very quickly you will, of course, need to spend quite a bit more time. I don’t recommend building a large website very quickly – especially if you’re a newbie. You don’t want to burn yourself out before you see the fruits of your labor.

How To Create Your Website

Your homeschool based website business needs content first. Content is the information that you want to share with the web world. It can be articles, how-to information, or even your own general musings. Creating content is easier than you think. On the internet, it is recommended that your keep your web pages to 700 words or less – and write at the level of a 6th-7th grader. You can surely do that! Some people even hire other people to write their website content for them, but it is best if you write it yourself.

Technically, you will need to select a domain name for your website and build your website. Our family uses Site Build It (SBI). SBI is an all-in-one website builder. SBI will help you choose and register a good domain name for your website. More than that, SBI will walk you through the website planning, design and building process step by step. SBI comes with a wonderful Action Guide that is so easy to follow that you and your homeschoolers will have no problem building your own homeschool based website business. A subscription to Site Build It includes the following helpful services:

How To Build Traffic To Your Website

Most definitely, you cannot have a successful homeschool based website business without getting trafficto your website. This is an important part of the website building process.

To get traffic to your website, you need to do the following things:

1. Create optimized webpages surrounding a specific keyword such as “Homeschool Curriculum” or “Homeschool Science Projects”.

2. Submit your webpages to major and minor search engines and directories. Having your website ranked on Google, MSN, Ask.com and other will bring a great amount of traffic to your website.

3. Create backlinks to your website from other webpages and websites. These backlinks are what help your pages to get ranked highly in the search engines. You can post your website in various forums and message boards to help create backlinks. You can even pay small fees to have other websites feature your website.

Once again we use Site Build It because it does #1 and #2 for us. SBI helps you determine the best keywords for each webpage and then SBI helps you to optimize each page for that keyword. SBI also submits your webpages to the major search engines so you don’t have to. You will need to seek out and create your own backlinks for your website, but SBI has the best user community forum ever, with lots of resources for creating backlinks.

How To Earn Money From Your Website

This is what you’ve been waiting for. How do you make money with a homeschool based website business? By far, my preference for making money with a website is through pay-per-click advertising and affiliate programs. These are ways to make passive money from your website without having to sell a product or fill an order.

Pay-per-click advertising is where you have a link on your website, and you make money when someone clicks on that link. It’s that simple. The clicks can pay you from .10 to $10 each and sometimes even more. The best part about this is that the click can happen while your cooking dinner or driving your children to an activity – or even sleeping. Once it is set up – you don’t have to be present to earn money. You can go do something else!

Second, affiliate programs are where you advertise another person’s product or service on your website, and when someone visiting your website clicks over to your advertiser and buys – you receive a commission. There are HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of products and services on the internet that you can become an affiliate for. This is another passive way of generating income that once set up, earns you money while you sleep.

Finally, you can create a website to sell your own product. It’s just another way to make money from your own website.

Lastly, you guessed it, Site Build It helps you monetise your website too. From information on how to participate in pay-per-click advertising to affiliate program references to how to market your own product, SBI contains it.

And Finally…

You have nothing to lose from starting your own website. Not even a lot of money. It’s not hard and I couldn’t imagine having a business any other way. Nothing else gives me the freedom to stop and start as I choose, the freedom to do want I want, and the earning potential that a homeschool based website business does.
