How to make the toss salad?

For 4 people:


  • 1/2 head iceberg lettuce
  • 1/2 medium fresh cauliflower head
  • 3/4 cup/200 ml/7 fl oz mayonnaise
  • 1/2 medium red onion
  • 1/2 pound/250 g bacon
  • 1/2 cup/2 oz/75g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Wash, dry and chop the lettuce and cauliflower into bite-sized pieces. Cut the onion into medium dice. Cook the bacon and drain on paper towel. Crumble the bacon into small pieces.

How to make the toss salad?

In a large glass bowl, layer the ingredients beginning with the lettuce, then the cauliflower, mayonnaise, red onion, bacon, Parmesan cheese and sugar. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.

The salad looks especially pretty in a clear glass bowl so that the layers can be seen.
