What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is an induced state of relaxation, heightened awareness, and suggestibility. You are able to tune out outer distracters and focus on a specific sensation, thought, feeling, or memory.

How does hypnosis work?

During hypnosis you are able to bypass your critical factor (the part of you that resists change). You are able to access your subconscious mind where all of your behaviors, perceptions, and emotions, are stored. You are then able to modify your behavior, perceptions, emotions, and sensations. Making change possible!

What does hypnosis feel like?

When you are in a state of hypnosis you feel very relaxed both mentally and physically. Your heart rate and blood pressure decrease because of the relaxed state. Some people say their legs or arms feel heavy. Some say their arms and legs feel light and tingly. YOU ARE AWAKE during the entire session and will remember the session. If you have to cough, or sneeze, it will not interrupt the session. If you have to use the restroom during the session you can let the hypnotherapist know and while still in hypnosis you may leave and come back and continue right where you left off. When you emerge from hypnosis you feel renewed, and energized.

Can I be hypnotized?

Anyone that has the ability to concentrate, follow instructions, and the desire to change can be hypnotized. Hypnosis is not recommended for people that are mentally ill; mentally disabled, have brain injury, or are under the effects of chemicals.

Does the Hypnotist/Hypnotherapist have control over me?

No. No one has control over you. You are awake and in control the whole time. You are the one hypnotizing yourself. That is the beauty of hypnosis YOU are actually healing yourself. The hypnotist is merely guiding you on that path of self healing.
