My Bay Window Tracking Problem

by Elizabeth Sealey

I have two front windows to my bungalow which are straight fronted 4 pane windows with a left and right reverse one pane window (rather like a rectangle with no bottom line!).

I have had several different tracks fitted in the past, none of which have been successful – I do have “nets” with draw curtains and windows which always get caught up when the curtains are drawn which I find very awkward to deal with.

My family have all tried to come up with a solution to the tracking problem but I feel that professional advice is needed1 – I am getting quite desperate and would welcome your advice. E. Sealey
My Bay Window Tracking Problem

Hi Elizabeth

The big problem is obviously that the curtains hang too close to your net curtains. So when you draw the curtains they pull the nets as well.

So if your window top is close to the ceiling then . the best option is to fit the track to the ceiling.

You need to ideally allow 4 to 5 inches between the curtain track and net curtain track. This should solve the problem you are having.

I the ceiling is far to high to hang your curtains from then I would fit a top board over the window. It would fit like a shelf over your window on simple shelf brackets.

Then fit the curtain track to the front of this or underneath. You could then fit a valance or pelmet on the front to hide the board if you did not like the look.

This give you some pictures so you can get an idea of what I’m talking about.

Best regards
