Peruvian Cuisine – Carne Guisada Recipe

A tasty meat dish best served with flour tortillas..

Serves: 6

3 tbsp olive oil
2 lb minced beef
1 onion, sliced
2 cloves of garlic
1 tomato
2 oz fresh bread crumbs
300 ml water
2 whole cloves
1 stick of cinnamon
¼ tsp thyme
2 fresh bay leaves
Juice of 1 orange
Salt and pepper to taste

In a food processor, whiz up the garlic, onions and tomato, until it forms a paste. 2 Heat the oil in the pan, add the paste, sauté for 3 min before adding the beef and cook for 5 min. Stir in the juice of the orange and the water, bring to the boil and simmer for 1 hour. Add the breadcrumbs, stir thoroughly and cook for a further 10 min. Serve with flour tortillas.
