Siding quality is very important to your overall satisfaction. I strongly recommend against buying very cheap siding.

I would look for a vinyl siding product that is certified by the Vinyl Institute of America. This certification insures that the product has based many stress tests and should last for many years.

They will test for consistency of the panel thickness and they also test for color strength. Cheap siding’s color will fade in a few years, in case you did not know this. VSI will test for this.

They will also test for wind strength and uniform thickness.

Concrete board siding is not tested by the VSI. It is a product that is made by few manufacturers with the major player being James Hardi Siding. James Hardi is an Australian company with factories in North America.
