The Bern airport, Flughafen Bern-Belp, is located a few miles outside the city just west of the highway leading to Thun. Dating back to 1929, the airport handles over 200,000 passengers a year at facilities considerably smaller that those in Geneva and Zurich.

Airlines serving central Switzerland from Bern include Air France, Darwin, Lufthansa, KLM, Sabena, Swisswings, Crossair, and Alp Air which provides air taxi, sightseeing flights, and single engine plane rentals.

Darwin Airlines serves Bern, Geneva, and Lugano with international flights to London and Rome.

If you’re flying into or out of Bern the airport bus between the airport and Bern’s main train station runs about once an hour for less than 20 SwF. Taxi service is also available and costs a lot more. The “Airliner” regional bus departs 1-2 times each hour for the run to the Swiss Federal Railways station in Belp. Tickets are less than 5 SwF.
