The Redesigned Toyota Prius 2005

The Prius 2005 has come a long way.

In 2000 the Toyota Prius was introduced to the United States. It was a success, and Toyota has made many refinements and improvements since then. The second generation Prius has been called a midsize style compared to the ‘compact’ Honda Civic. Both Prius and Civic are presented as 5 seaters, although 4 can ride more comfortably on longer rides. The redesigned Toyota Prius has more interior room and space in the trunk.

Performance wise the Prius 2005 is able to go from a standstill to 60mph in 10 seconds! This leaves little or no gap between the Prius and the average midsize sedan. Competitive with any four-cylinder mid-size car in space and power, the Prius is the world’s best in fuel efficiency and emissions.

The current Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive is in its’ third generation, and is defined as a ‘Full Hybrid System’. This means the car can operate in electric mode only if necessary. The gas and electric engines combine for more power than before. The electric-only mode of driving lasts longer with a weighty higher peak of electrical power. This gives a significant increase in electric only operation in stop and go driving.

Efficiency is increased in the Prius gasoline engine for 2005. The optimum power produced, coupled with Toyota’s Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence (VVT-i) assists in the car Hybrid efficiency rating.
