The Tourism Incentive Program, created under the Puerto Rico Tourism Development Act of 1993, offers a strikingly flexible package of specific tax credits and exemption benefits and gives a full scope to the possibilities of financing options in the form of, but not limited to bonds and loans from the Puerto Rico Development Fund.

The Hotel Development Corporation is responsible for assisting investors in working out an adequate capital structure plan suited to the investors project requirements.

The application process has been revised to expedite licensing and obtain permits in a timely manner. A Fast Track Center, under the Planning Board, coordinates the tasks of six agencies involved in the go ahead of all infrastructure projects and has set forth special processes to expedite permitting step with full access to the information required to establish Island infrastructure with respect to environmental and cultural issues. In a matter of days, the Planning Board is able to issue definite information pertaining any project for which complete application has been submitted.
