Top 9 Romantic Things To Do In Paris

None of these ideas are expensive, some are even free. All you need is a bit of imagination and the willingness to enjoy romance in Paris. Things that just seem ordinary at home become romantic milestones in the city of love. Besides the Eiffel tower, here are 9 things to do in Paris.

    1. Jardin des TuileriesThis park (located near the Louvre on the Right Bank) is simply spectacular and a great way to experience romance in Paris. You’ll be blown away by the stunning statues and circular ponds. Sleeping the day away beside one of the ponds is a great treat, but a really romantic thing to do is to grab a toasted baguette (bottle of wine optional)from nearby Rue de Rivoli and make your way just past the Arc du Carrousel to the grass before entering the gardens. It is one of the few places in Paris where you actually can sit on the perfectly manicured lawns. It is so romantic to lay back in each other’s arms on a perfect Paris day and watch the passing parade of people.
    2. Pont des ArtsThis is a pedestrian only bridge that joins the Left Bank (near the Institute de France) and the Louvre courtyard. During the day grab on of the benches and take in the scenes of the river and the passing parade. At night, join the noisy students and tourists with a bottle of wine and enjoy the twinkling Eiffel Tower in the distance and the lights of the baton mouches as they cruise the river. Noisy as it can be, it only adds to the atmosphere of romance in Paris.
    3. Kir in a CafeMake enjoying a kir a part of your afternoon Paris ritual. Kir (pronounced keer) is a wine based drink where white wine and cassis (blackcurrant liqueur) are mixed to make a very nice drink. Nibbles such as nuts or olives are usually included with the drink. You can’t help but smile at each other when you realise that you’re really part of the romance in Paris.
    4. Luxembourg GardensThe Luxembourg Gardens are on the Left Bank and is the Tuileries main rival in the pretty stakes. The joy of the Luxembourg Gardens is the special little hideaways. Don’t sit on the grass however or you may be told off by a very polite policeman. Grab a pair of seats near the main pond and rest awhile and then get exploring the nooks and crannies. Making new discoveries together is most romantic and so typically part of romance in Paris.
    5. Ile St Louis and Ice CreamBerthillon icecream is the reputedly the best icecream in the world and while you are in Paris you should go straight to the source at Ile St Louis, which is actually an island in the middle of the Seine. After enjoying a romantic dinner at one of the nearby cafes, head to to Bertillon and join the queue (it’s worth it). Stroll hand in hand around the picture perfect streets of Ile St Louis licking your ice creams. Even the locals do it, not just those looking for romance in Paris.
    6. Louvre CourtyardImmediately off the Pont des Arts on the Right Bank is the courtyard of the Louvre. At night it is one of the most romantic places in Paris. It has a small fountain in the centre, low lighting and the haunting music of a nearby busker is always nearby. I always make sure I have a few euros in my hand to pay them for one of the most romantic things in Paris. On one occasion I saw a table set for two with tea lights surrounding it, sumptuous food and French champagne on hand. How I wished it was me enjoying it. My romantic goal is to be that person one day.
    7. Rodin GardenThe Rodin Gardens are the best value sight in Paris. I’ve never actually ventured as far as the museum as I am always sidetracked by the Gardens which cost only a euro to enter. There you will see the famous statue The Thinker. There is a gorgeous cafe where you can enjoy a romantic lunch for two in the most beautiful gardens in the world. It’s a private tourist attraction.
    8. Hot Chocolate at AngelinaAngelina is a Parisian institution. It was favoured by Audrey Hepburn, Coco Chanel, Marcel Proust and me. When you have found your table for two in the stunning Belle Epoque surroundings, order the house speciality of hot chocolate. A pot of the world’s most divine molten chocolate will arrive accompanied by a tub of snowy white whipped cream. There’s food too, but who cares. Chocolate and romance. Does it get any better? Non!!
    9. Stroll the StreetsParis is such a pedestrian-friendly city. Simply being there is romantic and there’s no better way to get to know the place like walking its streets together. Stop frequently for coffee and wine and take advantage of green areas to rest and recharge your batteries. Travelling together opens up whole new areas in your relationship and there’s no more romantic place to do it than Paris.
