What you need to know about your dog’s diet?

Just like we do, dogs need healthy food. Your dog will basically eat whatever you will give him so you have to be very smart about it. Providing your dog with premium brand dog food can help your dog to live a longer and happier life. Sure it’s a little bit more expensive. But in the long run you could avoid a lot of problems and your dog will thank you for it.

Be sure not to give your dog too much food. Avoid feeding her the leftovers from your own meal. Most of this food is too fat and is too rich for your dog’s diet. Overweight can be a problem for your dog just as it can be for you. Of course you want your dog to enjoy her meals and of course you want to treat your dog with something special every once in a while. But there are very good, delicious alternatives for your dog.

What you need to know about your dogs diet?

When feeding your dog “people” food remember to limit yourself to the following:

 cooked meats (avoid red meat)
 cottage cheese
 hardboiled eggs
 low-fat yogurt

Never feed your dog these things:

Chocolate (is toxic to dogs and could lead to death)
Grapes and raisins (can be toxic in large amounts)
High-fat foods (can lead to obesity and digestion problems)
Onions and garlic (can cause anemia)
Poultry bones (could splinter and lead to choking or internal bleeding)

Feed your dog at regular times, 2 times per day (feed your puppy 3-4 times per day until he’s about 2 months old). Don’t leave food available all day. Your dog needs a regular feeding pattern.

When giving your dog treats or dog cookies (or anything between meals) try to never exceed giving him more than 10% of the total daily amount of food.
