I have a home with cathedral windows facing the West side. The windows are in a great room bordered by the kitchen. What is the best way to cover these during the summer to control the heat.

Window covering for cathedral window

Hi Mary C

The simplest solution would be to fit decorative traverse rods over each window and hang a pair of curtains.

I’m assuming that these are tall windows. So having a cord control to operate would help enormously. Also by fitting the rods above the windows you will still see the arch over your windows when open.

Another option would be to fit wood slat venetian blinds on the outside of your windows. You would be able to regulate the light but still see the shape of your windows when not completely shut.

Best regards
