Womens fitness – Here’s a program for power, speed, and agility

Every female athlete should take her potential to the absolute limit. A womens fitness program can and should be developed around special considerations that have come to light in the last 20 years of female athletics.

This is important stuff!

Why give away an advantage to your opponent? Why not gain every advantage you can in order to take your game to the next level? Here’s some great information to give you an edge. Use it…play and train smart!

One of the most significant issues observed with womens fitness involves the number of injuries to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).

In fact, the Big Ten, PAC 10 and ACC conferences have concluded that female basketball players are eight times more likely to sustain an ACL injury than men.

That’s staggering!

Plus, the American Journal of Sport Medicine reported that female soccer players were sustaining ACL injuries two to five times for often than males. So, what’s that tell ya?

I see a pretty clear message here…

…taking care of the knee is a huge issue in a womens fitness regime.

Multi-joint movements such as squats, lunges, and leg presses are excellent strength training exercises for female fitness (and men too!).

Here’s another important point: There are some studies that suggest females have an imbalance between their hamstring and thigh muscles (which may account for some of the ACL injuries).

So, special attention should be given to achieving better balance between these muscle groups. That seems to make sense to me.

But, there’s a lot more to the athletic equation – a lot more. You have to train in a manner that’s going to work for you – and help you realize your potential.

The difference between first and third is often razor thin. With some sports it’s less than a tenth of a second. Don’t ruin your athletic career by not training smart and with correct information.
